The French Quarter

The French Quarter is full of wrought-iron balconies, tall shutters and courtyards Stroll through Jackson Square with its manicured lawns and shrubbery, St. Louis Cathedral, the French Market, Galleries and quirky restaurants all on offer. Shopping can be found along Royal Street, where the antique shops and galleries and Napoleon House, the oldest bar in the Quarter are all in walking distance. There are over 300 places to eat in the French Quarter to tempt the tastebuds making a stroll around the area a must in New Orleans.

St.Louis Cathedral

St.Louis Cathedral was built in 1720, and is the oldest active cathedral in the US. Located overlooking Jackson Square, the cathedral is an important historical and religious symbol for New Orleans. St. Louis Cemetry

For an interesting tour in New Orleans visit St.Louis Cemetry. See the burial place of the deceased above ground in crypts, famous New Orleans figures like Etienne Boré, Daniel Clark, and Paul Morphy, world famous chess champion; along with other local and national figures. . This is due to the high water level throughout the city. The cemetery was built in 1789 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is one of the top museums of its kind in America. Here you will see 15,000 sea life creatures, representing nearly 600 species. The Caribbean Reef tunnel is 30 feet long, filled with Caribbean sea life. There is the  new Seahorses Gallery showing these amazing creatures swimming through the water. The Aquarium is also home to many endangered species such as the white alligator. A fascinating experience and a rare treat is the chance to pet a shark.The shark touch pool allows you to touch a baby shark and talk with the naturalist. Sea Otters, neon colored frogs and penguins are all here to view along with the Aquarium’s Amazon rain forest exhibit. The Aquarium is open Tuesday-Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World

The Blaine Kern Mardi Gras World is an interesting experience where you can learn all about the largest float designing and building facility in the world. More than 80% of the floats that enter the parade are built here. It opened in 1947 and is now open to the public. You will watch 10-minute video, see authentic Mardi Gras costumes and tour enormous warehouses filled with amazing floats. Musee Conti Wax Museum

For an educational tour and insight into New Orleans history visit this interesting wax museum. Find out what Napoleon and Andrew Jackson really looked like. The museum is open forty years and features 150 life sized wax replicas, and each is set in a historical scenario. On the tour you will see how bee's wax and real human hair are used to recreate over 300 years of history and legend.
